SCIENCE

Dance Science explores the connection between movement, performance, and longevity. Our passion is to translate scientific research into practical, interactive experiences that enrich training, artistry, and well-being. Whether you are a dancer, athlete, or movement practitioner, understanding the science behind movement can enhance your performance and longevity.

Did you know that a well-managed fitness level not only reduces the risk of injury but also optimises recovery and enhances overall performance? In this workshop, we’ll dive into fitness training and periodisation, key tools that help dancers of all styles stay strong, alert, and resilient. Through guided improvisations and dynamic tasks, you’ll explore:

– The how and why of tailored warm-ups
The metabolic difference between training and performing
– The keys to a well-planned training routine

Rather than sitting for theory, you’ll be in motion, feeling, testing, and integrating new knowledge as you move. We also tailor the experience to the needs of each participant, making space for personal exploration and discussion.

Global Dance Science Mediation Project

Rooted in our shared dance science education at the Institute of Sport Science in Bern University, this project was born from a desire to bridge the gap between scientific research and embodied artistic practice.

Our mission is to make dance science accessible, practical, and inspiring for professional dancers, educators and students, but also for amateurs and the wider public.

By combining theory and practice, research and creativity, we want to curate spaces for dialogue, knowledge exchange, embodied practices and exploration.
